Caustic Attack offers a very good display of quality and power.

Legendary grindcore masters Terrorizer didn't want to end the year without putting out their most recent released, which has been titled "Caustic Attack" the CD version contains fourteen tracks filled with the most intense and brutal grindcore that the band could put out together, as many of you already know this is the third reincarnation of the band leaded by sole original member Pete Sandoval behind the drums, Lee Harrison on guitars, Sam Molina on bass and vocals, the album was released through the American label The End Records.

Undeniably "World Downfall" was, is and it will probably be the pinnacle of Terrorizer career, for every fan of the genre this album is iconic and a must have to listen, while the later albums "Darker Days Ahead" and "Hordes of Zombies" released back in 2006 and 2012 respectively, both albums were severely criticized by the media and fans in general were disappointed; However this album vindicates in some way the reputation of the band. The first track "Turbulence" delivers a master lesson by Sandoval with a vertiginous pummeling drumming, it's followed by the belligerent "Invasion" keeping the same pace as the previous track, these guys are not lenient and "Conflict and Despair" slows down the pace, but still brutal, "Crisis" is another outstanding track full of violence throwing guts out everywhere. the album offers plenty ideas that bring to fruition "Trench of Corruption" more elaborated, fast and filthy, "Caustic Attack" is a straightforward carnage, alike the old school grindcore.

In general, this album is very well balanced from beginning to end and offers a very good display of quality and power; Terrorizer is finally approaching a step near "World Downfall" in terms of composition, according to me "Caustic Attack" is gratifying; So, don't let the time run out and enjoy it.

Stay True… Stay Metal… Stay Brutal…

An album appealing for the followers of melodic death and groove metal.

Solium Fatalis brought us their fourth album so far and I have to be honest, I have never heard of them before, but according to Metallum website, they are described as a Death metal band from New Hampshire; their songwriting skills are tight enough from the beginning, "Threshold" assaults us with tremendous fierce drum rolls incorporating rapidly alongside the powerful guitars with such aggressiveness, enough to take our whole attention. "Lake of Extinction" keeps the merciless pounding, the guitar riff is just sharp as a razor blade, very effectively does it carry the impetus beyond your expectations, it's followed by the precious "Servile," the technical skills abound here and are displayed to its maximum level with stunning breakdowns and a superb prowess vocal.

However, every album has a second face and "Factor Red" with its stomping pace dilutes most of the effort Solium Fatalis delivered during the first half and if it was not enough. "Dysmorphic" locks down any hope following the same recipe as the previous track, "Chemical Reagent" has some good ideas but the dissonant guitars sound out of place. the closing track "A Tongue to Taste the Collapse" sounds heavy and compact the guitar riff comes with more sense, the guitar solo is excellent and no need to say about the terrific drum work, while the vocals recapture its personality.

To summarize, the quartet of Solium Fatalis integrated by bassist and vocalist Jeff DeMarco, drummer Jeff Saltzman and the guitarists Jim Gregory and Ryan Beevers, were able to bring us a very variated album. Some tracks are good enough with some bright ideas, others are just flat and without inspiration or lack of ideas, only thing I can add to their favor is when they hit the right key, they do it with their own brand, very technical and powerful, spicing it up with some intense melodies and unforgettable growls; Please, don't let them pass unnoticed.

Stay True… Stay Metal… Stay Brutal…

Is undoubtedly brilliant, intense and darker.

Sargeist hailing from Finland finally has returned after four years of absence, their newest album entitled "Unbound" delivers a production to clean but threatening allowing the sound to be more inflictive giving us peace of mind, because honestly after the release of their previous work back in 2014 "Feeding the Crawling Shadows" which didn't met the level achieved at "Let the Devil In" in 2010 in my opinion the best you can listen from this band so far or at least that was my opinion before to listen their newest production.

So let's take a closer look, First impression always count and "Psychosis Incarnate" gets you in such atmospheric maze and gloomy melodies the folky passage gives an incredible dimension, frantic drums and the low guttural growls make this track a must have in your playlist, "The Bosom of Wisdom and Madness" ravaging without mercy, intense guitar riff, the drumming brings a relentless blast beat and everything here sounds perfect, "Deaths Empath" starts with a more melodic groove style, quickly evolves into a more darker sound more according to its nature, while "Hunting Eyes" shift the pace to a slower track approaching more to the depressive style with sick melodies, "Her Mouth Is an Open Grave" rapidly digs into the earlier Sargeist style raw and morbid alike to the Old School Black metal, "Unbound" will caught you off place with such joyful folkish passages, occasionally builds intensity with those fast pace injections, "Wake of the Compassionate" it unleash a hellish blast beat alongside the punishing guitar riff while the growling vocals match perfectly, the last track is "Grail of the Pilgrim" it is disturbingly exciting in the classic style of Sargeist, somber and unapologetic.

"Unbound" is undoubtedly brilliant, intense and darker, the album captures the most extreme and dense creativity and reaffirm Sargeist as one of the most outstanding acts within the Black metal scene, this album you must have it, no excuses allowed!

Stay True… Stay Metal… Stay Brutal…

The darker element is predominant from the beginning to the end.

With nearly twenty-eight years in the road, Behemoth has accomplished almost everything as musicians. We have witnessed their history, album after album plagued of Paganism, Antichristianity, Satanism and Thelema. Their sound has evolved from their beginnings playing a Black metal during their demos era and then they switched to a more Blackened Death metal sound until nowadays in the same vein, but more elaborated with operatic arrangements and plenty of choir intrusions, which seems to upset the oldest core fan base of the band, criticizing them for being a today's mainstream act with marketing purposes only.

Behemoth eleventh album titled "I Loved You at Your Darkest" steps on the toes of their previous record "The Satanist" released four years ago, which in my opinion is their best work since "Satanica" from 1999. In their newest album, the darker element is predominant from the beginning to the end. Of course, the arrangements intensify every song for the benefit of the listener. "I Loved You at Your Darkest" seems to me a natural progression from their previous album, not overdone or complicated, rather conventional, straight and crushing Black metal without compromises, that's where the strength of this album lies.

With that been said, let's step into Nergal's reign, the first song "Solve" comes to be the intro with children’s shouting blasphemies and that give a way to "Wolves ov Siberia" which breaks in with a colossal blast beat by Inferno, the guitar work by Nergal is overwhelming from the beginning, while the bass line resounds along the track, vocally we can't ask for more. Guttural growls from the abyss by Nergal himself, this track is followed by the controversial "God = Dog" this track slow down a bit only to pick up the bar with blazing drumming, the riffs become fast and sharp, as for the lyrics which remain unregretful confronting a deity, "Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica" transmit a pity gloomy and lonely feeling is more like a demon in chains you can see his hellish eyes  and that flame still burn, and suddenly chaos turn around with powerful drums, the riffs are fueled by aggressiveness from a darker soul, the bass notes are utterly supreme and melodic with its own personality, the vocals are amazing, next "Bartzabel" with a beautiful acoustic guitar work excel adding that mysticism vibe, while the music in intense and plenty of pace, the lyrics goes beyond your expectations evoking one of the most powerful planetary spirit who was assigned to Mars, I would dare to say that it is one of the best songs of the band in its entire discography, "If Crucifixion Was Not Enough…" has a groovy riff which is unexpected build with intensity channeling the energy to listen "Angelvs XIII" it flows very chaotic and threatening, the drums are relentless and again the guitar riff are pretty forceful, "Sabbath Matter" brings together a perilous but pleasant riff, the clean vocals gives another variant to the album, works more like an add rather than an excessive abuse of them, "Havohej Pantocrator" sounds epic adding another layer to the album, "Rom 5:8" goes back in time exploring with itself the vast Old School of Black metal with the drumming that covers a variety of styles that are well executed, the guitar sounds tight, frantic at moments when the speed builds up, but sinister at the slower parts, the next track is "We Are the Next 1000 Years" the drums sounds unrelenting with ferocity, the groovy riffs are stunning bringing at some point clean guitars adding an epic touch, the closing track is "Coagvla" a good enough instrumental track to finish the journey, not what we were expecting.

Where "I Loved You at Your Darkest" fails is to manage to maintain the intensity throughout the whole album, I liked it! I have to admit it, but honestly the album has a lot of ups and downs and there is where it falls short compared to the "Satanist", I don't think it should be considered as the best Black metal album of the year, neither the biggest letdown of the year, so; give them a shot and enjoy the moment.

Stay True... Stay Metal... Stay Brutal...

Electric Messiah carries with itself an overflowing passion.

High on Fire has trespassed all the boundaries, approved by some and disapproved by others. They are far to be judged here, their previous album "Luminiferous" which was released in 2015 was a worthy piece from the Oakland's trio, in fact it was selected as the (*Best Sludge / Stoner Metal Album IRA 2015) neither more nor less than here. With that set in mind I was eager to have their newest record titled "Electric Messiah," the album is full of intricated, simplistic and melodic riffs, here you will find everything from fast pace to slow pace, vibrant and heavy bass lines by Jeff Matz, immaculate drum work by Des Kensel, while frontman Matt Pike delivers a great guitar effort and vocally he is able to retain the same power as he did it three years ago.

Getting into the grounds of "Electric Messiah" is spectacular from the beginning, "Spewn from the Earth" welcomes you with tremendous intensity right away. The track builds up such connection between the band and the listener and it's hard to ignore these guys. "Electric Messiah" is unmistakable bringing the classic sound of Motörhead, the murky sound with the gargling vocals and ceaseless drumming. "The Pallid Mask" doesn't lower the intensity despite its mid-pace speed, but the thrashy distorted guitars made it worthy to highlight, "The Witch and The Christ" starts with beautiful guitar riffs between catchy and melodic that are good enough to hook up your attention until the last track has arrived, "Drowning Dog" closes this brilliant album, the sound is heavy and  structured with harmonious guitar chords which turn into a very sophisticated guitar solo.

This album is heavy, energetic and thrilling, without losing the strength and gruff that the band usually packs in every album, "Electric Messiah" carries with itself an overflowing passion, as nobody can replicate, I believe all devotees of this genre are more than pleased with High on Fire and their newest album, hit the links to get yours!
